English Lesson - Verbs in Past Tense - by Jon
Grade level: Primary 1

Student readiness level: Mixed Abilities

The assessment focuses on: guiding students to arrange and describe a sequence of 4 pictures to form a short story (beginning, middle, ending)

Assessment type needed: Drag and Drop sequencing + Sentence building (choose or type simple sentences)

The objective of the assessment is to:

help students understand story sequence (first → next → then → finally)

encourage them to form complete sentences with correct verb tenses (mainly past tense)

build confidence in continuous writing using pictures as cues

While completing the assessment, students should experience:

immediate feedback after sequencing (e.g., “Good job! That’s the correct order!” or “Try again — what happened first?”)

hints for sentence construction (e.g., “Remember to use past tense verbs like played or ate.”)

encouragement after completing each stage (“You’re building a great story!”)

The interface should include:

4 draggable picture cards to arrange in order

a sentence box under each picture (students type or choose from a word bank)

“Check order” and “Show hint” buttons

progress bar showing story completion

green/red visual feedback

“Try again” and “Next story” buttons

final “Story Summary” screen showing the student’s completed story with stars or score
